This will slow restoration down

Woke up to 60s today. Felt like winter. What a relief! Summer 2020 needs to end and die!

This is where living in downtown Hartford comes in real handy...never even a flicker of the lights!

Thanks for posting that radar image. I had no idea ugliness was so close. What a beautiful day outside today with those low dews and summer sun.

We live in downtown Westport and still no sight of an Eversource truck.
Word is someone spotted a truck "assessing" in Greens Farms.

I wish we get a stawm like this in wintah instead of summah . I 95 deserves to be on the cold side of a no’eastah more often .
I remember My car Got stuck in 26” of snow in Hartford just 10 years back. That was one of the worst Snow storms I experienced.

Because Eversource was prepared for 125,000 to 380,000 outages and they had more than 800,000. That’s a significant difference. It’s not like they did know the storm was coming or it’s intensity. It was all pretty well documented. This was added to the massive increase in fees that hit people last week and people are rightly livid. This is a prime example of why bigger is never better. They just aren’t responsive or accountable. Jay

I can see the difference as a day ago in terms of total outages NJ was on top, NY in the middle, and CT right below them (though weighted for population CT would've been almost tied with NJ). Now when I look at current total outage stats CT is clearly on the top (not that NY was that much better, even Cuomo blasted the utility companies....I was lucky this time and had just flickers (one of which blew my cable box which I exchanged yesterday)) but had plenty of friends and family in both NY and CT with power out, most (I'd say 80%) of the NY friends/family have theirs back as of this morning, less than half of my CT ones do.
This. Eversource is still "evaluating" the outage. They were supposed to work last night with our town's DPW to remove trees from the roads and Eversource was a no show. They emailed our first selectwoman at 9pm last night to tell her they weren't coming.

They did have a crew that removed branches and reconnected the downed lines on my street. But the main line that services my neighborhood is still extremely damaged, with some big trees still on the lines and a couple of snapped poles. If I get my power back by Sunday I will be surprised.

My internet stopped working today. 3 days later.
This is because someone who removed a tree down the road broke apart the cable wire in the meantime.

3rd day without power. Connecticut is now #1

I love that Eversource has not mentioned crews from other states. Scrolling through their tweets, not 1 mention. I'm sure they appreciate them but why not the mention? Maybe I missed it. Have a scroll for yourself and see all the downed wires/tree photos they are posting
