Well spring weather is fickle....so I would not count on anything until the day before. LOL.

Some of the models now show really warm air just off to the south of the Tri-State area a day or two after the 5th (around the 7th). Who knows if this is correct this far out? It could be rain showers and 45 F...or sunny and 65 F. You know April. LOL

NYC Central Park as of midnight at exactly 9", 4th wettest. More may have been added after midnight, but #3 is 10.41" set in 1980 so not likely to end up higher than 4th (#1 and #2 are 10.69" and 10.54" in 2010 and 1983 respectively). So far 9th warmest March at 47.8 degrees average temperature.

No doubt, perfect weather this holiday weekend along the East Coast.

The rain has moved off shore, and sprawling high pressure is moving in. It will be breezy with winds 15 - 20 mph at times today, but with blue skies and that strong late March sun, it should feel pretty good. Highs will climb into the low/mid 50's F today, ...maybe nearing 60 F on Sunday.

9 Am obs...some stations reporting clearing and sun breaking out

I was worried that the final month to winter might make up for the mild Dec- Feb. I guess that will not be the case.

Bridgeport reported zero snow for March 2024. NWS Bridgeport is now tied for #4 warmest March since 1948. We really had a easy final month to winter across the Tri-State area. NWS Bridgeport had highs between 50 and 72 F sixteen times.

Thanks for that info.

Do you know if any other Marches at BDR had zero snow? It is rarer than one thinks (even only a trace is as well, even in NYC which is ending up with a trace for this March because they7 Park apparently got a trace on the 11th so they are not showing zero snow, it seems they get only a trace in March about once or twice a decade), in Central Park with their long record, it's only happened in 1878, 1894, 1903, and 2012.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the first time not even a trace of snow fell in March in BDR (at least in their shorter record from 1948), or it's one of only a couple of them. If I go by NOWdata, which has a couple of years of missing data sprinkled here and there, it only happened before in 2021.

Apropos of weather, I remember the almost-total eclipse in March 1970 or maybe March 1971 (I think 1970). My Dad and I watched with some cockamamie device. The temperature dropped a few degrees and I remember some cumulus clouds dissolving. When I went to high school in September 1971, by weather club advisor told me that his "pet theory" was that the eclipse helped dissolve the clouds, since cumulus clouds are aided by warmth below.
I also remember the line in "Your So Vain" (link below) that referred to the person "taking his living up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun (at 3:00)" Since that song was of 1972 vintage, it must have referred to the March 1970 eclipse.

It looks like there has been 10 times or so with only a trace (T) at BDR...but this WILL be the first zero for March. Of course, as your rightly point out, the record is pretty short, only since 1948. Still, I did think we would at least get something in the final weeks of winter. I guess not.

In any event, temps rising fast with the sun out now....NWS forecast highs of low 50's F....but my guess is many spots might be 55 - 58 F today. Not bad, about 3 - 4 F above normal. I love Easter on the patio
