Here in Pittsburgh the Animal Rescue League is FILLED with Pitt Bulls. Probably 90%!!!! It is a shame there are so many morons in the US, but there are. Duh, lets get a Pitt Bull (which isn't even a breed), Pitt is exactly what people should never expose their dogs to, but I digress. Anyway, people defend these dogs and that is fine, but the amount of poor ownership in the US with this breed, DOES matter! Therefore, I do feel that breed shouldn't be allowed in cites. Denver got rid of them and it isn't because of the dogs themselves, it is because Americans shouldn't have access to them. We as a whole can't handle them. Sort of if people had nuclear weapons at home. Not a good idea.
You blame the dog. ..without knowing the owner? That seems unfair and presumptuous. Trash is attracted to those dogs sadly and they are responsible for training this aggression into them, more so than other breeds. When is the last time you passed a drug house with a Lab or golden retriever out front?
not to mention that there's no such breed as a "pit bull".
But it was a loving dog and it never mauled anyone to death before. Obviously it was just a bad owner, who deserved what he got. Because a pit bull would never harm anyone for no reason.
In the police report, the wife stated that she had told her husband that the dog who mauled him needed to be put down because he was aggressive and unpredictable.
Also, this report says the dog weighed 85 pounds. Pit bulls do not weigh 85 pounds. Full grown, they weigh between 30 and 60 pounds.
It's called being overweight. 30 to 60 pounds might be the normal weight of a pitbull.
But when overweight or obese obviously they can weigh a lot more.
