Like the post I quoted and countless other examples not only on this board but in life, there are some cold-hearted people out there. But let that person get fired from a job for making a mistake like this and see how they feel.
Sadly, many are not going to feel sorry for the 70 year old former bank teller.
And yet there is a lot of sympathy for a guy who spent $30,000 that wasn't his and got ten years probation. That says a lot about where we are as a society.
Read the fine print on the signature care, wherein you agree to abide by the rules of the bank - and would it surprise you to find that the rules hold the bank innocent of any wrong doing even if they do.
Its been said over and over on this thread, but I still can't understand this logic. Just because the bank made a mistake does not give this guy a free pass to spend $30K. That's really silly, and very stupid to think the bank isn't going to figure out their mistake and find out where the money got deposited. It's not buried treasure.
There are a lot of issues in this world where you can argue both sides legitimately and SHOULD look at both sides of the coin to really appreciate the situation.
I am saddened deeply that so many people think this is one of them.

This should be a civil issue between the bank and the kid that spent the money.
Well, it depends on how you came across the money. If you stole it, yes. If not, it should be settled in civil court...
The Law considers it stealing. That's all that matters. Doesn't matter what you call it.
