I'd like to ask the more severely injured officers if it was worth it.

Just like Ferguson with their ridiculous midnight curfew, 10pm is too late.
I beg to differ the curfew went into effect immediately yet there were no police and security forces to enforce the curfew after the first retreat along Florence Ave which let everybody know it was on and LAPD ain't gonna stop you. During the first night's curfew around 60 Korean owned liqueur stores were burned out and fire fighters were being shot at. It took until the next day for the first National Guard units to arrive the local battalion of the 160th Infantry and the 40th Inf MP Company. The 49th MP Brigade being a mostly Northern Californian National Guard unit and the rest of the 40th division was coming up and looking for work but LAPD had no command structure to intergrate us or even other local departments because LAPD was in their eyes so superior to other agencies and had a go it alone mindset. Because of the slow start in getting ammunition and the bulk of the Guard on the street the governor asked for the Guard to be federalized and President Bush did that by the forth day we were joined by Marines and soldiers from the US 7th Inf division.

More likely what stopped the riots is that the stream of rioters went all the way to the foothill of the Santa Monica mountains and sheer exhaustion after four days along with the remainder of the national guard's 40 Inf Division and 49th MP Brigade entering the riot zone along with the regulars

I lived in Hollywood(right off Hollywood Blvd west of La Brea) when the curfew went into effect(it wasn't the first night) but when it went into effect you had to be off the street by dusk. I remember that quite well. Once it got dark(and like this it was in April) it started.

You're correct, it did take the National Guard showing up, my point is you don't start a curfew at 10pm. By than it is too late.

I'd like to ask why it is so hard to control your kids.

You get to come home from school, grab a snack and watch tv for a little bit. Then you do your homework, eat dinner and pack up to be ready for school again in the morning. Hit the sack by 10 pm.

Then Saturday morning you clean your room and that nasty bathroom (and maybe even mow the lawn) before you go running off.

Everybody works one way or the other. Kids are no exception. If those kids had rules to obey (that were actually enforced by their parents) maybe this wouldn't have happened.

I think a lot of it has to do with parenting and family structure. In general, even in the inner-city where both groups have higher rates of poverty, Latinos tend to have much stronger family structure overall. Immigrants from Africa and the Carribean don't display the level of crime as African Americans either (not all African Americans obviously; I'm talking about the demographic that causes problems, to be clear).

Obviously you have never watched The Wire, or been able to put your perspective outside of your own experience.

Its amazing to me why poor, irresponsible people are having children. Its just a burden on society for idiots to procreate.

When i read the city data forums, especially posts by posters with their birthdate in their name, it's clear that idiots in this country have been procreating for quite some time.

Poor irresponsible people are generally hesitant about having kids at first, but after a long drawn out conversation between male and female a lot of them decide it's the best course of action.

The rich, more than any class of people, just love getting things for free! The middle class as well! And the lower classes! All classes of people!

And if you say, you don't like getting things for free, then you're unquestioningly retarded!

Those that rant and rail about the looters, what's behind it? Envy! They'd love to be doing it themselves!
