I feel bad for her. I do. But it's incredibly insensitive to make such a big deal of her cancelled party and honeymoon when people actually lost their lives.
Exactly this.
I understand that she wants to move past this, but a GoFundMe page was in pretty poor taste. They can have their wedding, just go to the courthouse and do it. A honeymoon and reception can be done later, not while wounds (emotional), are still fresh for so many families...INCLUDING her family.
Very true. Which is what confounds me about this anyway--her wedding had been set for the Sunday after those murders. She canceled it, yes, but hadn't she and the groom been prepared to pay for it then?
When you cancel a wedding (and honeymoon), you lose a lot of money. Deposits are lost for the venue, caterer, photographer, DJ, bakery, florist;, etc. ; some vendors may still require full payment (like caterers if they have already purchased food, etc). Plus the cost of anything that can't be re-used (invitations, any dated favors). Then there's cancelled non-refundable airfare, any lodging that may be pre-paid, etc.
I feel bad for her. She is also a victim, but not in the same way as those who lost their lives. A GoFundMe page was a poor choice. Her world has been turned upside down. I wouldn't judge her too badly. She lost a lot of hopes and dreams that day also.
Sometimes you just write things off. She should be commended for turning her brother in, but in light of the massive tragedy that happened at the hands of her brother, she should have just eaten the cost, done a small courthouse wedding with their parents and celebrated the wedding on the first anniversary or something like that. It sucks, but there are times when you should recognize that something is bigger than you.
Nine people died at the hands of her brother. Nine families had people torn from them. Children lost parents. Families lost breadwinners. That's where the funds should be going, not to finance her big party.
Everyone should show some compassion to her...I mean she lost her fiance when her brother was arrested
took me second
