There are only MALE and FEMALE. Everyone who doesn't choose one of these two is very, very confused; or perhaps a little insane. Those who actively promote such confusion are just plain evil.
You don't understand probably that the world is not WHITE or BLACK, there are multiple shades in between.
Some ignorant commenters on here do not realize that there are gradations and that a subset of the population has gender issues. It does not apply to all people, so relax...gees. Give it a rest.
What is the end goal? It can't be to just know who is what. At some point, there must be a preference provided to certain groups or it makes no sense to track the groups.
I think the question asks what the person identifies with, not what they are. That means you no longer need to know what anyone is because it can change to anything they want it to be.
Say there is a class I can't get into. Could I not say I am something not represented in the class and then apply for a variance to gain admittance?
There has to be more to this than bathrooms.
Just saying things change is ridiculous. Of course things change. What is wrong with asking why or is that no longer allowed?
It would seem contrary to what many here are saying if one the one hand they want tolerance and acceptance yet can't accept questions or different views. Only one view is allowed and everyone should just accept it without knowing why? If that is the case then not accepting the change doesn't require an answer either.
I would bet the house that the majority of people who say they are anything on that facebook list will be in therapy.Even male,female,non of the above would suffice.Why does there have to be a name attatched to everything these days?.If you say you are non binary, i'm sorry you are not right in the head.

WHY do we need to track and label every odd, self-identity and WHY do we need interdisciplinary gender studies? WHAT will anyone do with that once the studies are over? At first I thought it was simply something to do because changing forms is relatively simple and it maybe it makes someone feel-good or whatever, but now I'm not seeing the point to any of this. It seems like the only/biggest issue we are facing today is identifying genders and I don't have a clue why. It doesn't matter one whit in this world what an individual feels like their gender is at any given moment. None whatsoever. It's like constantly taking your temperature because every fluctuation means you are now somehow DIFFERENT and need to be acknowledged as such by the world.

Because the more divided and at odds society is the less the chance of anything in society ever changing.
Social issues are easy to deal with compared to economic issues or political issues.
It has no effect on anybody but those filling out the application. So why do you care so much? Are you so scared that there are people out there that don't fit your narrow, out-dated "gender" views that you have to rail about it on the internet?
How do you know it doesn't effect anyone else? I have big doubts that that info doesn't impact who gets in and who gets money. So if someone gets admitted to a school because they are the most qualified black, Hispanic whatever candidate but 501 on the overall list and the white boy who was 500 doesn't get in, it's pretty clear that it impacted someone else.
