What an absolute moron....either that, or he actually wanted to be rid of the daughter for some reason. I'm so glad he was arrested and hope he will actually be prosecuted.

The man, a Dubai expat, physically stopped the nearby lifeguards from reaching his daughter.
The man, who has not been identified, was arrested by Dubai police and will be charged over the incident.
Obviously he saw his daughter not as a person he loved but as a possession that reflected on him. Another stupid decision influenced by religious fervor. There are many of them made around the world and they are not all Muslim. Sometimes they end the lives of more than one person.
Story says that this incident happened many years ago. In general, observant Muslims have since then become even more stringently rigid in their religious observance. I suspect that not many observant Muslim fathers allow their daughters to swim at all at a public beach, nowadays.
The father of a 20-year-old woman let her drown in Dubai rather than let lifeguards rescue her.
The father preferred she drown rather than be dishonored by getting touched by male rescuers, reports Emirates 24 News.
Lt. Col. Ahmed Burqibah, deputy director of the Dubai police's search and rescue team, confirmed the incident happened.
The dad had taken his wife and children "to the beach when suddenly, the 20-year-old girl started drowning and screaming for help," Burqibah said.
"Two rescue men were at the beach and they rushed to help the girl. However," said Burqibah, the man "considered that if these men touched his daughter, then this would dishonor her. It cost him the life of his daughter."
Burqibah did not say when the incident took place.

The woman drowned and the father was arrested for not allowing rescuers to do their job.

Had nothing to do with Muslims. Muslims TRIED to save her. The father was an Asian man, an "expat of Dubai".
