But the Fed's can (and Do) blackmail the states into passing such laws.,
Don't pass a .05 BAC law, we cut off all Federal HiWay Trust Fund money to your state till you do..
Aside from the specifics of BAC, I despise this type of federal "blackmail" and I wish the states would respond by withholding submission of all federal fuel taxes collected.
Hardly. Only the ones who insist on drinking and driving. You want to drink, then don't drive. Case closed.
Until they show that people drinking one drink with dinner are the ones causing the accidents, it IS overreach. I can have a small glass one wine and not be impaired at ALL. I've had one tiny fender bender in my 30 year driving career (with zero damage), and I was stone cold sober.
I also love how there are no "numbers" for driving high?
So the government shouldn't create laws and regulations to stop inebriated people from getting into cars and essentially potentially using them as weapons at the risk of God knows anyone else out there innocently driving?
More "something" from our idiot government, to look like they're trying.
How about we make harsh punishments for those that ACTUALLY use them as weapons, instead of punishing all law abiding people that are perfectly able to drive after having a drink.
Yep...not only be killed.. When they end up not being able to move, talk, function... When you've seen families ruined, lives taken or changed forever....but oh noes, I can't have one extra drink before driving.
It's 0.05 in Australia, and has been for as long as I can remember.
It's really not a big deal.
Good heavens, to repeat: we are NOT Australia.
This sounds just like the gun grab, right down to invoking Australia.
Bad idea...having a glass or two of wine at dinner is not irresponsible and you shouldn't be arrested for it.
