Just another reason to not go to the theater anymore. At home we have an HDTV, BluRay DVD player, and a 5.1 channel surround sound system. I turn up the volume loud enough to enjoy the movie without hurting my ears like what happens in some theaters, I sit in a recliner with no one kicking my chair, my movie snacks are much cheaper and of a higher quality at home, restroom is clean and safe, floor isn't sticky, armrest isn't sticky with old soda and gum, and I can pause for a restroom break or answer a phone call if I find it important or let it go to voicemail. When I watch a movie, I watch a movie. I give the movie my full attention. Last time I went to a movie I even left my phone at home.
To the people who text: Instead of texting, just turn to the people behind you and shout, "**** you, *******". It is actually less disturbing than the light in your eyes from the texting and over much quicker.

It was clearly a joke intended to make a point - if you're going to insist on texting in theaters, you might as well do this.
If you didn't get that, then you're part of the problem.
I go to many movies and have never been inconvenienced by people texting during the pre-show, i dont see how it would impact my movie going experience if some one was texting while the movie was playing as i cant hear them texting and i cant see their phones if they are held in their laps.
Now if they are actually making phone calls while the movie is playing thats a whole different story.
Most people are annoyed by the obvious light glaring up from the phones..
I can see it no matter how far from me it is and feel like throwing something at the texter...

Then I most certainly am! Sounds like a bunch of (old?) fogies with nothing better to be concerned about! I'm a hundred times more concerned about people texting while driving...and even at the gas station than in theaters so I'll spend my precious life cycles worrying about that.

I'm too busy watching the movie than to notice if someone has a small light in their lap, usually a position where i cant see it.
They will lose money but the millennials will absolutely love it since they cannot live without texting. I would hate to be at a movie and see phones constantly lighting up.

Then you probably don't have peripheral vision, in which case you're lucky. For people with peripheral vision, a sudden light coming from somewhere other than the screen is a distraction.
