Some people will disagree with you. I read somewhere that the machines tend to spit out the same combination a lot.

It’s funny how without thinking of the permutations it seems that it should be way easier to get 6 numbers right out of 70 than it actually is. It’s much like in Texas holdem it seems way easier to make a flush or that you see flushes much more often but it’s really markedly easier to make a straight

A pick consisting of months and days, such as 1, 2, 3, 29, and 30 has the exact same likelihood of winning as a pick of 66, 67, 68, 69, and 70.

Explain the self-limiting you’re talking about.

Quick Pick number seem to have a better chance of winning because it's usually the number choice of the casual lottery player.

I'm not saying that I'm a fanatical lottery player with only one set of numbers advanced played over the course of 10 weeks ($104 dollars played over the course of a year), but if a jackpot gets crazy AND I have to leave the state to renew my numbers, I'll throw $2 in for a quick pick. There are a lot of stories of winners that just stopped in for a half gallon of milk or something else and bought on a whim using quick pick as a fast way to generate a ticket.

It's just the number of quick pick tickets printed vs. a 'system' that makes them seem luckier.

I never use my own numbers because I’m afraid I’ll see them hit on a day I didn’t play.

That's pretty much been the extent of how I do it.

I used to work a store where a LOT of the $30 Instant Scratch-Offs were winners. My luck? If I bought three, I wouldn't even win my money back.. I'll have to try it someday.

Not only that, but I'm in New Jersey and the Powerball winner was in South Carolina.. again.

So. Imagine if I had bought $5,000 worth of tickets.

Maybe one day when I have "money to lose" i'll play the Lotto, but........................

I played tonight's Powerball for the first time ever.....I usually only play the same 2 sets of numbers for the NY LOTTO...but when Mega hit a billion I did buy a couple of tickets and with Powerball now up to $750k or more I decided to take a shot on a few games...

Two sets of numbers I picked myself and the third set of numbers I used the Quick Pick option...$2.00 each but I took the Power Play option for a buck a game so my total ticket cost was $9.00...

Good luck to everyone here who played tonight's Powerball ....would love to see someone from the forum have luck shine on them and for them to hit the Jackpot this evening...Good luck everyone !
