I have no faith in the federal government handling this competently. We can't stay in lock-down for a year, our whole system of supplying food, medicine, fuel, electricity, water, etc. has evolved into a rather tenuous string and won't last a year of this. Like it or not, at some point we all have to go back to work and take our chances. Nobody wants to roll the dice but I don't think we will have a say in it before this is all over.
Please wear a mask to avoid spreading it to others who want to make a different choice. You will be infectious long before you show symptoms.

That is WRONG, Google it...FEMA has the authority once the official announcement is made, declaring it a 'national emergency/ crisis'.

Now, its possible that Trump would like to have people believe he is still in charge.

There are many categories of leadership. Each leader is operating
on their own plan, adjusting to daily events. Most of those plans
are invisible to us. The various leaders and plans and organizations frequently oppose each other, but must function simultaneous with each other. Each
plan tries to foresee and react to other plans and leaders. Each
leader has priorities, but generally self-interest is the overriding
priority. We ourselves must plan and react to whatever the leaders do.
Our self-interest requires hyper-vigilance to events around us and
we must remain flexible enough to dodge the bad stuff, while
cooperating with and supporting the good stuff.

Admit it (EVERYONE). Having an idiot POTUS who can't tell the difference between truth, lies and hyperbole is making things so much worse. South Korea identified their first C-19 case on the same day as the US. They have 10k cases now, we have 311K.

We gave up on truth and intelligent leadership when we Electoral College'd in theDonald.

Early in any C-19 plan is getting rid of the idiot.

The result is that we lost this round of the battle against the virus. Without controlling the infection rate and the vaccine is another year away. More people will die as a result of their lies and incompetence.

We are supposed to be 1st world country and we end up being worst off than many 3rd world countries at protecting its citizens by lying.

The difference is it’s been circulating here before we knew. In January experts are certain we had community spread.

In South Korea, mask wearing is mass. Quarantine efforts are more extreme. It’s a different culture. Despite that, they probably still continue to have undetected cases.

We were never going to stop the spread here. It’s like wildfire how it spreads. We’ll reach herd immunity before any vaccine. Where the feds failed most was testing. Too late in ramping up and still too late in mass antibody studies. We flew blind because of that. And didn’t know how or where to prepare.

Mass testing could’ve helped our healthcare be prepared and somewhat saved the economy if done earlier.

Again, the messaging from our idiot POTUS (masks are OPTIONAL, and I won't wear one), isn't helping.

Have you ever worked for an idiot? I have. It makes your job so much harder.

When Trump opens his mouth in the covid briefings, Dr. Fauci can't help but instinctively tough his face.

We would do better if they could find some activity to distract away theDonald.

Getting back to the original topic, what should our long term plan be (besides getting rid of theDonald)?

Marc Benioff (CEO of Salesforce) made a good list as his pinned tweet on twitter:

Mar 31
1. national lock down
2. national travel stop
3. masks for all
4. virus testing for all
5. antibody testing for all
6. vaccine “Manhattan Project”
7. 90 day CEO no lay off pledge
8. Federal CARES program for all
9. back to work plan

Most states will not take that serious of actions though, even in NYC, when strict quarantines were imposed, they were still allowing trucks to make deliveries to grocery stores and other companies...JUST ONE of these truckers could be infected and not know it, come into contact with an employee or maybe at the place they stopped to eat and then BAM, the quarantine zone is broken and the virus spreads!

They need to decide if the priority is going to be public health or the economy...cannot have it both ways.

If "they" prioritize the economy before there is universal testing "they" will get neither health or economic improvement.

We failed at timely testing (idiot POTUS), so we have to lock down until we get there. Obviously we have to maintain essential services during that lockdown.

I can't just blame only the POTUS, there are many leaders to blame. We spent 2 months of flip flopping on the face masks? How stupid can American Govt be, telling people a lie about face masks just to hoard it for the health workers. When they shipped millions of masks and ventilators to Asia back in Jan-Feb. So make our people get infected without telling us. I can see how Anthony Fauci played along Trump while knowing what's gonna happen. He knows the only way is to shut everything down for 1-2 month but knowing the free country of American. That's not gonna work. They should've just tell people to mask up since you're gonna go out to fetch toilet papers. We will have over 25k deaths before July. Since many governors just starts sounding the alarm and the disease is hitting the heartland and many less than healthy parts of the country. Anyone who has to worry about high blood pressure, diabetes, etc it's gotta kill people in parts of the US with a skimpy hospital system.
