Coincidentally, while we were there last week, we noticed a new sign in the front office describing a new model. It is called the Raleigh and is 3 bedroom, 2 bath. Didn't look too closely at the drawings but bedrooms look tight (master only 14 X 12, I believe) but it is good McKee is offering options for everyone. Hubby and I plan on cruising through Roesville some day to see how things are. They were a very close second in our research and travels.

little eggplant,

It seems like just yesterday we were all worrying if you would avoid a snowstorm and make it safely down to Lewes to your temporary home! Hard to believe that was three months ago! You're over the half way point now and before you know it you will be settled in at Champions Club.

If I may take a moment off topic...
Please step back and reflect for a moment. We need to all be grateful for our wonderful service men and women for their dedication, determination, and success in completing this weekend's dangerous mission. Where would we be if it weren't for them?

Isn't Springtime wonderful? As we're driving around Delaware this time of year it's great to see the trees are green, the flowers are blooming, and the neighborhoods around Kent County look beautiful. The wind has slowed down a bit and, hopefully, some rain will wash away all of the pollen that has accumulated on autos and patio furniture.
How is everyone?

We're progressing nicely here thanks. In two short months, we'll be meeting with the folks at Champions Club to choose all of our decorator options and talk out the time frames for starting to build.

We have the same questions you probably had when you considered choosing your community. We'd like to know more about land lease, to know the real story about socialization within the 55+ communities (not what the website or the sales person says), the true costs of heating / maintaining /etc, for a house of around 1600 square feet, etc ... in essence, anything you can share will be helpful to us, and all others seeking the same information.

We were hoping that we could make a clean getaway from the Hudson Valley in New York for a nice 55+ community in Delaware. I do admit I'm a bit nervous having read some of the messages here, so hopefully, future posts will put some clarity into the issues related to the 55+ crowd.

Thanks in advance for the information you share.Charley
I'm re-posting the OP in an attempt to re-direct the conversation back to the reason this thread was started. Recently it seems to have turned into a chat thread about Champions and Roseville communities.

I'd LOVE to see more participation from the other 55+ communities? Where are they? No one's stopping them from contributing.

I have brought this up before. Where are the other communities' residents? What happened to elizamary, dr norman, and others from the various 55+ communities? My original thinking was that people happily contribute when they are in the active stages of looking but participation tapers off once they are settled. Is this true? Do they no longer feel the need to contribute to the board? While "looking" for a home is the major reason for joining in, I can't help but think we all would benefit from those already settled, giving us outsiders the low-down on community activities, local plusses and minuses, opinions of the construction of their homes now that they are in them, etc etc etc....

The title of the thread is 55+ Communities. I know I have benefited immensely from the postings here and, in turn, hope I have helped others with my journey through home selling and future home ownership. C'mon people, we need everyone! Life is a learning process and it does not stop at age 55! It is through the generosity of opinions and yes, even the inane rantings of others (my opinion only, no names given!) that we all learn.

A long way back, a pledge was semi-jokingly asked for from the posters to continue to provide information for others. I took that pledge seriously and went on to provide our story as it is still progressing. Our home will be ready mid-July but I intend to continue to read and add to this thread as needed. Hey, someone out there may actually want my take on life in Magnolia, DE!

Hello 55+ people and anyone checking out this thread.

I'm here just posting in other threads and into other things. Of course I said a million times how happy I am in a 55+ community. Southern Meadows is filling up rather nicely. A lot of sales recently.

I did post on this for long time but feel I was rehashing so I lost interest

Quite busy these days between home, community functions, activities and grand children. I'm not complaining mind you.

My main focus when I visit this thread is to help someone who is new and interested in a 55+ community especially the one we live in and to share what I have learned by experience.
Otherwise I'm here 4 years and pretty settled.
