The same as I live my life know, except one more medical condition to be managed.

Yes, it may have affected me more than it should, but I JUST got my Fibro and RA under control and was enjoying that, so I stopped the Lyrica and dropped 10 lbs while eating like a normal person, and I was enjoying that.... it was a 6 month roll of really good health and quality of life.

LADA would suck, because while it is slow, it ends in insulin shots (eventually), doesn't matter how well I manage it. Well, I think if I DIDN'T manage it well it would happen sooner.

It could be LADA from the sounds of it. Your pancreas may not be producing enough insulin on it's own but the C-Peptide should tell you that.

Type 1.5 Diabetes - Information, Symptoms, Misdiagnosis, Medication & Alternative Names

A1C of 5.9 is not terrible but since these things are usually progressive it's best to handle it early.
Thanks. I think I read that if you start meds early with LADA it kinda gives your pancreas a crutch to last longer.... I'll read more about it IF that is the diagnosis.

I'm still waiting for the glucose meter, but I saw my GP. She feels it is probably autoimmune too, so I had the GAD antibody test, results will take 8 days because it goes to the mainland.

In the meantime I started eating a diet closer to paleo, and really watched my carb intake.

Blood glucose was 117 and a1c was 5.7. So obviously the adjusted diet is working.

Some creative Paleo recipes = Recipes Archive - Paleo Plan

How often are you getting your A1C tests done as they are supposed to represent a 3 month average of blood sugar results.

Thanks for the link!

I go every 3 months, but this one was a little early because I wanted to address the blood sugar issue.

It is not LADA which is good. Of course I am continuing on with adjusted diet and still waiting for the glucose meter (out of stock).

Good to hear. Just a note on the meter. I quit messing with insurance and meters and supplies. It is much easier for me to just buy the meter (one time) and buy the strips at wal-mart. I paid $14 for the meter and I pay $9 for qty 50 strips. No insurance, no hassle. I do have insurance but it is not always the cheapest or best option for me. The meter is the ReliOn Prime and is exclusive to Walmart and it is accurate. I compared it to the one at the doctor's office.

I'm not getting it from insurance, I needed the Rx so I could purchase it through our FSA account (for out of pocket medical expenses. I ordered it from Amazon and the vendor is out of stock... if I get impatient I can order it from somewhere else.

Thanks for the info on the ReliOn!!

Ok, so I am up and running on the meter.....

My fasting blood sugar is 120.

Why? Can this be diet related? What can you do to fix your fasting blood sugar level?
