I don't think it's as much that people can't tell that half gallon of ice cream > half gallon of salad.
I think it's more on the order of, they can't tell that 1 scoop of ice cream > 4 ounces fillet mignon, 1/2 cup string bean almondine, and 2 jumbo strawberries sliced and dusted with cocoa powder.
They see the 1 scoop of ice cream and know it's fattening, but figure it's just one scoop, so it should be okay. And - it usually isn't.

thats what i meant about the situation. At my peak weight I was obese.
Having a scoop of ice cream a day, if thats the only indulgence I'd had, probably wouldnt have been enough to keep me obese. Thats how I lost weight, BEFORE I was on WW - just being more sensible, cutting out the insane things like bowls of ice cream, multiple slices of pizza for lunch, etc. Of course I was still overweight (but not obese) when I plateaued.

Agree,,,,,,However, when one is counting calories, and the daily allotment is only about 1,200 , that one scoop of ice cream at 275 calories doesn't leave much left over, so one really has to make some smart decisions.
so I weighed in at the doc today. Showed a 19 pound loss from my visit in December. Doc was delighted, and estimated all my blood numbers would improve (still have to get the test results back)
About losing further - He agreed that more loss is the only way to eliminate the belly fat, and said that new studies show that even WITHIN the normal BMI range, a lower BMI is associated with lower CVD risk - but he wasnt pushing me to lose more, cause he was worried about sustainability, feeling deprived, rebounding. I tried to not give him TOO long a speech about weight watchers, how I dont feel deprive (in fact Im as much a foodie as ever) and their approach to maintenance. Anyway, he basically left it up to me. Im thinking I will reset my goal to five pounds less than I had planned earlier - (still within normal BMI range of course). But I may start gradually shifting to maintenance as soon as I hit my old goal. Go from 29 WW Points plus to 30 - I bet I will still lose on that.
You are probably right because I'm not losing weight.
Actually, I HAVE lost weight. 8 lbs. in the last month. Not from counting anything. By doing a vegan challenge.
I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sometimes a snack if I am hungry other than meal times. Just no animal products. And I'm doing my best to limit junky food.
I much prefer this to counting anything, so I hope the weight loss continues.
I haven't exercised much but I plan to add that in once I get a routine in place with my new job.
