It may be awhile but that means you will have to nurse her . Meaning take her out on regular times to go...even if you have to carry her.

The problem here is she might never be same again. I have cousin that had a stroke at 51 years old and now has mind of a 9 year old and has to have 24 hour care. I wondering if my dog is going be the same as my cousin?

It can happen any time up to 24 hours afterwards.

"Anaphylaxis is a rare, life-threatening, immediate allergic reaction to something ingested or injected. If untreated, it results in shock, respiratory and cardiac failure, and death. An anaphylactic reaction can occur as a result of vaccination. The reaction usually occurs within minutes to hours (less than 24) of the vaccination. Dr. Ronald Schultz of the University of Wisconsin College of Veterinary Medicine estimates that about one case of anaphylaxis occurs for every 15,000 doses of vaccine administered...."

Adverse Reactions to Vaccinations in Dogs

And, it does matter why it happened. If a dog has had a severe reaction to a vaccination - it is important to know it to avoid future problems with vaccinations.

John,

You are assuming the worst. You have nothing to base it on.

Your dog did not have a stroke. She apparently had a reaction to a vaccination ...

Don't you think you should let her come out of it and see how she is???

It sounds like she's been in some kind of shock or a coma. If you really love this dog as much as you say you do, you need to let her come around before you make any rash decisions.

You need to know in your heart that you did everything you could - gave her every chance ...

Just for a comparison, I was in a coma from a car accident many years ago.... when I came around... finally ... my mind was fine.

My mom was in a coma cause but an infection for a month...she came back her old self.

This dog has gone thru some scarry things....Being home with you will help her a whole lot more than sitting in a cage with a bunch of strange people hearing sick dogs all around her.

You're so right. In fact, they finally sent me home from the hospital for that very reason because they thought it would bring me back.... and, it did!

Maybe you should go spend some more time with her, talking to her. Seeing their humans really helps animals when they're in the hospital!
