Something really scary happened to me today. Someone threaten to hit my dog with a rock. He could no find one so he took a huge heavy stick. He didn't get to hit her (we ran) but I called the police and gave a description anyway. If a person actually hits your dog on purpose and causes your dog an injury, what would you do???

OMG yes. The fight would be on. I've gotten into fights with people over other people's dogs.

I've never had people threaten to hit him, but I did have attempted thefts and you better believe I'd fight for my boy. And if someone tried to hit him, I'm pretty sure he'd take care of them himself, though he'd have to get past me first!

I doubt if anyone would ever try to harm my Rotts. If they did...I would kick their tail (being polite here). My dogs are my life & I would protect them from anything or anyone.
You did the right thing, calling the police.
If I were you, I would find another street to walk on. There are just too many crazy people now a days.

I got kicked out of Petsmart after reading the riot act to 3 kids when one of them tried to sit on my dog! Then I read the riot act to their good for nothing mother for leaving them unattended in the store. That was when I got kicked out. It was probably the remark about her son needing to be put down instead of my dog for his stupidity.

Cruelty to animals is a crime. Call the police and stay out of fighting, today you might just run up against a guy with a gun or knife. Don't be a hero....

I fired a guy because my dogs didn't like him.

Hit my dogs??? They make crack heads who will do anything you want for just a small "rock".

Hitting my dogs would be a BIG mistake.

I'm just curious as to why the guy was trying to hit your dog. Your dog wasn't being vicious was he/she?

Still unjustifyable, I know because I still would definitely stick up for my dog!

About 7 yrs ago I had a little boy, probably about 6, kicking my chainlink fence one day with my dog right on the other side. My dog was barking at him, not a viscious bark, a friendly bark. As soon as I seen this boy doing this I walked over to him and told him to stop, and also told him why. I understood he didn't realize what he was doing, but when I saw him my blood pressure went up because it was my boy. I would totally defend my dog against anyone doing harm to them or intent to do harm.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, and if I were you I would carry something on yourself to defend yourself and your dog. I'm sure you did the right thing and ran away because people are so sick nowadays. I would also warn your neighbors about this person. Be safe!
