Newt. He has the strongest grasp of the real issues, and exhibits that flawlessly. Unfortunately he is Newt, and therefore virtually unelectable.

Default Who won the GOP debate on 9/7/11?

Who do you think won the debate? My vote goes to Ron Paul for being consistent and fluid in his all of his responses. He came off as very intelligent in every issue questioned. He is also very energetic and does NOT come off as a career politician!

I think Mitt Romney easily won this debate. I do think that Rick Perry performed a little better than I expected. I can see why he won his governorship in Texas so many times. I also thought that Herman Cain performed fairly well as did Ron Paul. The biggest loser is Michelle Bachmann. I think her "win" in Iowa has already faded. I didn't see enough of Huntsman or Santorum to really judge their performance.

The debate was lopsided, not in the candidate responses, but in the way the questions were heavily skewed towards Perry and Romney.

It was totally biased and ridiculous. I think there should be some format where each candidate gets an equal number of questions and a reasonable amount of time to answer 'the question asked'. The questions should be of substance and not just gotcha questions.

I thought that this was one of Paul's weaker debates. In no small part due to the fact that it was far to lopsided in the number of questions going to Perry and Romney. What questions Paul did get were not really good questions either.

It seems that the Paul camp is transitioning their campaign after recent polling success and Perry getting in. The attack ads are new and I think that it might take Paul a little bit of getting used to this new form of campaigning.
