He is making noise about it to get his hands on $$, but no one knows if he will actually be running in 2020. You never know what might come up to have him out of the race by then.
Yeah an asteroid could hit the earth. But the likelihood is so low it’s not even worth worrying about
No wonder Dems are throwing out such names such as Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, or Cory Booker for 2020. Since they are under the impression they are locked to win no matter what
and as we have seen in the past, nominating or even a serious run against a sitting president of your own party is a ticket to defeat. I think, if he decides to run again, Trump will have to be the nominee. Please party don't try to replace him unless he is willing. We will stand a better chance of winning with him than forcing him out.
I think most of us know the reason he gave, but was it the only reason he choose not to give it a shot? None of us really have the answer to that.
In the case of his family, Beau Biden's death apparently had a huge ripple effect. The illness lasted several years. The brother already had addiction issues and they feared that was going to be a huge trigger- which I suspect was the case since his marriage hit the rocks soon after. There was also a widow and children that Biden felt obligations toward. Regardless of politics Biden has been able to cobble together a cohesive family through a major tragedy, remarriage, one kid's addiction and a long illness/death by another child. I give anyone who puts in that work/effort a lot of credit because it really is work to keep things clean in any of those circumstances.
I've given McCain similar credit for having a cohesive family wit children from 4 totally different circumstances. And to Romneys for how they dealt with her illness.
Because it wouldn't make any sense for Obama to line up the party machine against his own VP. Why would he do that? With Biden standing down in 2016, for reasons only he really knows, Obama had the green light to back his former SoS. But with Biden in the 2020 race, and Biden being more tied to his legacy than Hillary ever could be, why would he back Hillary behind the scenes or even remain neutral? I don't think it would make any sense.
There's also the fact that a losing Presidential candidate has never received the nomination the next go around.
I also think there's the very real possibility Biden could curb stomp Hillary in a primary. Hillary's candidacy was in large measure powered by African American voters in Southern primaries. That was a real weakness for the Sanders campaign that Biden doesn't have.
First off, great post. You really made some good points and supported them.
Obama got out of the way of Hillary grabbing the DNC by the neck in 2016.
I think that he may have some concerns about causing a rift in the party AND he certainly made a deal with Hillary back in 2008 (he did make her sec. of state after all) to avoid a delegate fight and unity.
100% agree Obama could seriously impact if not outright determine the primaries by stumping.
The question is that he didn't interfere before and clearly had (or still has) some sort of deal with the Clintons stemming from her conceding earlier.
.. And in other news, Rasmussen reports a 50% job approval for President Trump. His approval has risen in recent weeks from 46% among likely voters.
