I am reminded of the 1964 Alaska earthquake. I was living in Haleiwa, Hawaii at the time, and we were awoken by the HPD saying we had to load up and get out, a Tidal Wave was coming. We did, and spent the night on the hill in a cane field. The next morning we heard on the car radio that the "tidal wave" was about 6 inches high, so we went home.
The "blue wave" here was about the same, a lot of nothing to get exited about.

Conservatives will come back in 2020 and retake the House. Bank on it.
Soon to be former GOP Congressman Mike Coffman would disagree.

To all the House Republicans who are planning on running in suburban America in 2020 with Donald Trump on the ballot, “good luck,” says Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO), the four-term Congress member who lost his reelection bid last week. You’re going to need it.

“Donald Trump is about Donald Trump, and what Donald Trump is, is he wants to be the center of attention every single day,” Coffman said, reflecting on Republicans’ newfound position in the House minority. “He wants to dominate the news cycle every single day, and good luck trying to get a message out of that.”

This should be repeated on every page of this thread.

It's all about the gerrymandering. Districts one mile wide and 50 miles long. Get real. Majority of people in WI vote Dem, and yet both houses of our legislature are GOP - Senate 2:1. It's horrible. The few wagging the tail of the many.

It's wrong and needs to be fixed.

Given the exreme gerrymandering putting a boot on the neck of every voting Democrat, this election had an excellent result - and says an awful lot about the mood of the country.

People with decency and brains want Trump gone - the sooner the better.

Wisconsin doesn't have an Initiative process does it? In states with this process, you can circumvent a legislature. We just did that here in Utah. Two and possibly three out of four Initiatives opposed by the legislature passed.

I took it, as taking the House AND the Senate.
You took it wrong then. The blue wave was about the house not the senate.

It was about both.

The Dems were defending a huge number of seats in red states and competing closely in others (Arizona). They ended up winning many of them (but not all). They only reason they held as many seats as they did was because of how biased toward Ds this election was in general.

Repubs underperformed, picking up only 2 seats in the Senate while the Dems are on track to pick up 40 seats in the House.

Last night another close election flipped from (R) to (D) in Calif 45th district as more mail-in ballots are counted:

Yeah, it was a blue wave but it pales in comparison to the losses sustained by Democrats in 2010 during Obama's 1st term mid terms.

Call it whatever you like. GOP holds the White House and Senate and makes the decisions.

Well trump sure isn't happy about it from all reports I've heard.

Only because of R gerrymandering. Popular vote margin was the same.

Why not compare the economy in 2010 to the economy today?

Knowledgeable Republicans (i.e., those that look at the political world with eyes wide open) regard losing the House, by 35+ seats, during a 'booming' economy, and after a massive tax cut (ahem), to be very disturbing. Indeed, we had quite a few CD posters that predicted a 'red wave' based on these factors.
