Both parties have used gerrymandering to their advantage in the past. The Republicans however have really recently perfected it by using the modern tools at their disposal. With computers and loads of data available, it is now far easier to do modelling which can predict election outcomes. The fact that much of those inclined to vote Democrat are clustered in and around cities made the job even easier for the GOP. They basically wrote off urban areas thinking they would not do well there and packed them with as many Dems as possible to reduce their numbers in other districts more friendly to the Republicans. It is why a state such as PA had a delegation distribution that did not really match the somewhat evenly divided electorate. This strategy help elect many Republicans and gave them a sizeable majority which did not correlate to their national vote. The side affect of this has been more polarization as districts across the nation became redder and bluer depending on where they were. These districts in turn elected candidates tilted far more to the right and the left who felt no need to compromise.
Hmmmm, wasn't he supposed to be gone in the first two years?
And please, bring on the endless subpoenas. Show the country that Dems care NOTHING for doing the job they were elected for, and only care about payback.
Two years isn't up yet. Don't jump the shark so quickly.
Call it what you like but GOP lost the house thanks to their messiah pushing forth some stupid bogus fairytale of an invading army bringing all manner of desease and pestulance etc rather he should have been pushing jobs/ economy/environment and healthcare, if he chooses a similar course of action in 2020 expect the GOP to lose the senate and white house.
It's not just Congress. In my state of Colorado, Democrats took every major state-wide office, expanded their comfortable majority in the State House of Representatives and flipped the State Senate back to blue.

and with the 2020 census will gerrymander it so that no republicans ever get elected...even if it is against the will of the people
Some News Organizations Have the North Carolina 9th on this list or New York 22nd, or New Jersey 3rd, because the States havent certified the results yet.

And that's false.
I know this because we also passed, by a generous margin, initiatives to put a non-partisan redistricting plan in place.
Yes, that's right, all those people voting for Democrats used their power to also say that we wanted fair elections including districts that were fair and which reflect the will of the people living in them, not ones that are twisted into irrationality to put a specific party in power.
But look at the difference here - a blue state state's left leaning voters voting for fair districts vs. the knee-jerk reaction of GOPers who of course assume that gerrymandering has to be the norm, because that's all the GOP knows how to do. If votes were cast and counted fairly, the GOP would be out of power in a whole lot more places besides Colorado because they've bastardized the process so that they can lose elections in terms of actual votes, but still get their people into office.
They say this is the worst defeat for Republicans since Watergate. And we owe it all to Trump. It's about him, he said. "Pretend I am on the ballot." LOL.
