What's it like to live in Russia if your black?
I already know its not America where blacks are
on par with white people.
I'm just asking what's its Like to reside in Russia
thru the eyes of a black man or black woman?
To begin with - Blacks in the US are disproportionately poor comparably to whites, and when you are poor in the US, you are anything but "on par."
Saying that, it doesn't mean that Blacks (as few as they are and whoever they are, coming from a mixed heritage or being visitors/temporary residents) in Russia are particularly welcome.
At this point in time, in this particular historic period Russians are hostile not only to Blacks but to all people of color, their own variety ( like Central Asians and Caucasians) including.
That is not to say that each and every Russian is hostile to these people, but the mood overall in this respect is rather gloomy. Russians have their own reasons for that, and it was not a case even twenty years ago.
Wiki says that there are about 40,000 mixed-race Russians - Russians of Black African descent. (2010).
I know that some Africans attended their universities, but how many decided to stay?
Black skin remains extremely rare in Russia. I wonder how many Black African live there.
According to BBC officially there are some 10,000 Africans living in Moscow alone, but far more are believed to live there illegally - many as economic migrants. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8230158.stm
There was a black man (Joachim Ritu Cabi Crima, a Guinea-Bissau native farmer) who ran for head of one of the the Russian districts, however, both he and another black candidate for the post came in third (with 4.75%) and last against the United Russia incumbent.

Blacks are not poor in the US, there incomes are not as high as other races in the USA but compared to Africa and even Europe Americans blacks are pretty wealthy, Atlanta is majority black and is a city where blacks are extremely prosperous.

It would be nice to see a TV network or organization do a documentary on this very topic. PBS did a special documentary about being Black in Latin America. I think it would be very interesting to see a documentary about being Black in Russia.

The Black people I've known who were raised in Russia lived privileged lives. (Kids of people who went there to live from the US during the Soviet regime.)

Where were you in Alaska? I know Anchorage and Fairbanks have sizable Black populations.
