Counter-terrorism is a key area of cooperation between the US and Kazakhstan. Also, providing support for US "counter-terrorism operations" in the region. We can't be so sure of exactly what they're doing there, besides extracting oil and de-commissioning nuclear weapons. Like when "advisors" were first sent to Vietnam; oh, no, the US wasn't involved militarily--it was just sending "advisors".
From Wiki:
in March 2012, Presidents Obama and Nazarbayev reaffirmed bilateral cooperation in the areas of nuclear nonproliferation. President Obama went on to say, "The close relationship between our two countries extends beyond just the nuclear security issue, so this meeting will give us an opportunity to discuss the cooperation that we have built over the last several years with respect to Afghanistan and the help we've received in supplying our troops and helping to assist the Afghan government."

Silly Finn!
There are no US bases in Kazakhstan, a Russkie puppet that is.
Progressive house, progressive rock, progressive metal, you get the drill. Some trance, schlager and classical. And ambient.
Finland has some awesome stuff. I used to listen to Rasmus quite a bit when I was younger. Nightwish is great even though Tarja left a long time ago and some people can't get over the fact that they changed styles with the arrival of a new singer. There are great doom and black metal scenes in Finland.

Like I said a few pages back, depends on the definition of "US base". If a counter terrorism advisory group is viewed by Russia as being surrounded by enemy bases, you gotta wonder why they have such paranoia
