Despite the lingering tensions that still remain, it doesn't seem like the space sector has been hit hard. I'm glad that cooperation in science is still a thing.

From Wiki:

in March 2012, Presidents Obama and Nazarbayev reaffirmed bilateral cooperation in the areas of nuclear nonproliferation. President Obama went on to say, "The close relationship between our two countries extends beyond just the nuclear security issue, so this meeting will give us an opportunity to discuss the cooperation that we have built over the last several years with respect to Afghanistan and the help we've received in supplying our troops and helping to assist the Afghan government."

Silly Finn!
I created a map of all current US Army/Navy/USMC overseas military bases across the world. One flag may represent several bases geographically very close to each other. Here it is:

OH LOOK HOW THEY ARE SURROUNDING RUSSIA!

You omitted a few of them. Poland for instance, one of the obedient vassal states.

Yes, because there is no US military base there, only temporarily some troops.

And the reasons for the bases are: Naval outposts, leftovers from WW2 (always will be a base in Germany, Italy and Japan), defense of South Korea from the North and some middle eastern ones for obvious reasons (war on terror, defense of regional allies etc).

Or its all a nefarious plan to invade Russia because you know, we need more taiga than we have access to in Alaska and Canada...and rather than buy stuff from Russia we will send troops to conquer it. LOL

Right. Last month some Pentagon general was spouting hysterics about Russian Belarussian exercises in Belarus. Concerned that the Russians may not go home.

Next step for the US is to station lots more troops in EE for good then whine when the Russians don't go home. Predictable. :

Well I have always said that a thief is a capitalist with a higher profit margin. What the west wants is the destruction of the Russian Federation. If all the provinces are separated then it will be much easier to steal all those goodies in the taiga. It's about expansion of markets by whatever means it may take. Including war from the Baltic to the Pacific.

If Russia's frozen resources are what we are after, we can print dollars and buy them. Putin will even overlook the environmental destruction for us. I still don't see the motive for the supposed American encroachment on Russias borders.

Agree with you, unfortunately so...
I had hard time to believe into something like that during Soviet times, but by now I know it is so.
