We take political opposition persons, minorities, gays... Ukrainians...
But for sure, all Russians are welcomed if they come in peace.
I know. Now many criminals and thieves suddenly suddenly become political refugees and strong opposition. It is very convenient to avoid criminal liability.
There are fewer geeks, it's more difficult to prove, and not everyone wants to be so shamed. It's easier to write false tweets for all kinds of unpleasant things about Putin's bots and the bloody Putin regime.
Not only that, but many Russian "cultured" tourists and emigrants take those attitudes with them whenever they go. It is easy to spot people from the lands affected by great Russian imperial civilization so to speak. When I see a grumpy arse who thinks he is too special/street smart to do things regardless of the rules or common courtesy (the concept which is foreign for many) and/or I see a guy who is rude or oblivious to the low end service workers I don't really need to look twice for adidas labels on his training pants or hints of slavic on his face. American Ghetto is the closest analogy to the Russian cultured behaviorial patterns, former soviet block in general shares some of that, but Russians simply stand out (for some time at least it takes to polish that attitude off here in USA).
A question for the Russians. Why do you think your government rigged the US election?
Terrible Russia sells well in the US. Therefore, in your media, we will attack, threaten, falsify, and that your corrupt politicians can still come up with.
Remember how badly sold the evil Iran, Iraq, Korea, etc. They sold well. The list is long)))
