Any census after the war is going to colored by the ethnic cleansing since many fled to Russia. The last census in 2010 showed that Russians comprised 20 percent of the total population and about two-thirds of the population in the breakaway regions.

Most Russians weren't claiming Khabib to be Russian. Certainly not the supporters of Artem Lobov, the best Russian fighter at the moment. Maybe since he won he's being claimed by Russians now (but his post fight behavior isn't going to win many fans). It's a pity as we were all waiting for Lobov to fight Khabib's teammate Tukhugov...
