Germany is preparing for a multipolar world. In that scenario, it behooves them to avoid becoming more dependent on the US or Russia for energy or security.

This guy makes some good points. It seems to me the accusers have a case in that they were told/sold one thing but recieved another. It could have been some manner of mistake by Calvey and the accusers. It cuold have been Calvey trying for a retirement fund. He is American and we all know how the "stole it fair and square" concept works. The accusers could be simply trying to get rid of him in a power play.

The question is to be settled in the courts and that's nort good for Calvey. It's not like he is really needed anymore considering US Russia relations and the state of US relations with the rest of the world. America and Americans are not to be trusted, that's the mood out there today.

A song from the 70s. And this is again relevant, unfortunately.

https://youtu.be/GEXb6nP_peY

translate:
Spoiler

I'm running on scorched earth
Slam my pressurized helmet down on the go
My F-4 is a white arrow
With flattened out wings
Climbing skyward with a roar

I see the world turn into blue (1)
It's a pity to disturb it
A pity that you can't see it
My flight path is long and dangerous
As my F-4 is speeding towards the East

I'm making a left turn
I've become the reaper, not a pilot
Bending down over the sights
And the rockets dash towards the target
I'm breaking away for another go-around

I see a white line in the sky
My F-4 is losing altitude fast
The ejection seat is gonna save me
And the straps (2) are tightening
My heart's bumping (3) and I'm diving into a tailspin

I just landed and at the same moment
A wild howling came from the bushes
Yellow-faced Vietnamese
Chirping in the bushes like rabbits
I fell to the ground and lay still

Again I walk over this cursed earth
This time with no mask on my face
Behind me a gun barrel
That the soldiers poked me in the back
And my life is hanging by a thread

"Who's that pilot that shot me down?"
I asked one of the Vietcong
Then answered me fiendishly
The guy that led the interrogation:
"Well, you got shot down by Li Si Tsin" (4)

You Vietcong are lieing to me in vain
On the intercom I could clearly hear
"Go for it Kolya, I'll have your back" (5)
"Vanya, attack and I'll cover you" (6)
The russian Ace Ivan must have got me

(INTERLUDE)

Somewhere far away in my homestate Texas
Mum and Dad are waiting for me at home
My F-4 went down so quickly
On the clear blue sky
And I will never see them again.

(1) or the distance
(2) straps on which the pilot hangs under his parachute
(3) lit: my heart is in my heel
(4) Li Si Tsin, a fictional fighter ace in asian folklore, supposedly shooting down allied fighter planes over Korea (50s) and later vietnam (60s).
(5) Kolya, a diminutive of Nikolai
(5a) Vanya, a diminutive of Ivan, the eastern name for "John"
(6) In many coldwar conflicts, russian troops did not take part in active combat , but rumour had it they exchanged passports, fatigues and fought under different identity.

Chizh! I bought this album while in Moscow... ahh good memories and very underrated band.

Relevant how? Like how we killed a couple hundred wagner guys in Syria? Hopefully lesson learned and no more of that going on. Or do you mean like Russian tank crews in Ukraine. Hopefully no more of them are killed either.

You have come up with virtual enemies and heroically fight them. But the reality is a bit different.

F-15: 104-0. Still mad about that? Russia only lost what 10 aircraft in Syria? Better than in Georgia, but barely.

Sure. As long as there is no more attempts of replacements of the *inconvenient* to Americans heads of states around the globe, as it was in Syria. Hopefully lesson learned.

I was researching Smolenck today. It's my favorite city to visit, a great old fashioned city that has modernized itself while keeping the old look of the past. Or so we're told.

I was shocked and depressed to find that there is now McDonalds and a f##king Burger King just north of the River. Within sight of the Cathedral where the bars and restaurants (the good ones) used to be. My favorite hotel is gone too.

Max, your country is going to the dogs.

When a country only picks on countries that are incapable of defending themselves you tend to get such lopsided results DKM. Kind of like the New England Patriots going up against a team of High school kids.

I could go on.

I wonder what would happen if America went after a power capable of defending itself considering we have lost the peace in every war since WWII and can't even beat a nation in the stoneage today.
