The big thing is Belorussians probably don't care and that's going to get them in trouble.

Belarusians care, believe me, I have been there several times and many are dissatisfied with Lukashenko's activities in terms of conflicts with Russia. He is gradually losing power, his rating is falling, he is constantly blackmailing Russia on various occasions and many are already tired of it here and there. And now he, in spite of Russia, is trying to flirt with the West.. He probably thinks that he will be "understood and forgiven", but this is unlikely.. If he decided to follow the path of Yanukovych, he can't sit on two chairs

It's in our interest to keep Belarus independent and free of Russian control. Belarus needs continued gas and oil subsidized from Russia. Here we have a mutual benefit to increase our relationship. We (mostly) get what we want and Batya has leverage to force Moscow to keep the cheap stuff coming. Russia cannot afford to lose Belarus so the cheap stuff must continue now that we gave Belarus a backup plan.

Rumors are that we will soon appoint an ambassador to show increased support for the independent state of Belarus.

You mean "batya" the dictator?

And US government backs him up now?

Oh it's so predictable)))

Russia can afford much more than you picture ( or hope) DKM, as the latest events show.

What US can't afford though, is to offer anything decent to the countries they use in their bid to hurt Russian interests. They end up being worse off economically, and they start simply dying out.

Ukraine is the latest example of it.

There was yet another scandal that hit the social media there recently.
After your so-called "lowered energy bills" arrived to Ukrainians, an old woman called the TV studio, and asked politicians how she is supposed to survive, when the bill she received is HIGHER than her entire pension for the month ( 2,000 grivnas.) She said that with meager subsidy of 200 grivnas, she would break even, but - listen to that, - in the middle of the winter her subsidy was cut off, since she has been told that "it's warm out there." ( I kid you not.)
And then the MP from "Servant of the people" party that was in the studio, heard the dog barking in the background, saying that "you can sell your dog if it's purebred for example, to help cover the bill."
The country plunged in shock yet again.

Number one - what kind of "purebred" this woman would have in her village,

and number two - what a scum hijacked by the IMF/Americans rule their country now, stuffing their pockets with millions. ( Now Yanukovich and his "corruption" times look like a dream in comparison to today's situation.)

A. Sharij's people went looking for this woman that called the studio, to make sure that this whole episode took place for real.

They found her.
Along with her "purebred" dog.
That poor thing is 14 years old and half-blind.

Stay away from Belorussia DKM - that would be my advise.

I don't see how they are concerned. I really get the impression they're apathetic about it. There's going to be a Maidan in the future. Soon I suspect.

Another Ukraine, they managed to avoid the worst of the debacle of the 1990s endured by Russians and if Luka thinks it will be any different he's wrong.

And what's she supposed to sell after the dog? Her house? Her children? Herself? That politician needs to punch himself. I can feel the contempt in his words, he doesn't even think he's adressing human beings. Better yet, he needs to be swinging from a lamp post, his mentality is of medieval times .

Just a thought.

This all is sad. If she lived in a town in a big flat we would advise her to move to a small flat. But she lives in a house in a village. What should she do?
There were suicides in Ukraine because of debts like this. What is this? Can we call this "an economic genocide"?

This is piracy on a huge scale. It's institutions like the IMF, certain NGOs, governments, oligarchs and god knows who else moving into a country and taking over everything using all kinds of excuses and even warfare to set up a system to loot the country.

Anybody even slightly aquainted with history knows how it works and has seen it in many places. Keep in mind the US state department "invested 5 billion dollars in Ukraine" to help the spread of freedom and democracy. America wants it back. Nothing is free and they're taking it back out of the hide of the Ukrainian people who don't have the means to do anything about it.

Look at Romania and Bulgaria. Poland suffered for years but it's doing well for now due to EU welfare. We'll see how that turns out, nothing is free.
