Lately I've been doing something called "Greasing the Groove." I stumbled into it online a few months ago.
I must admit that I feel better without plateauing or experiencing that "burnout" feeling. but that might be due to the effect you get almost any time to switch to something new.
just walked nine holes of golf at Barksdale AFB just east of Shreveport, LA......so didn't do much....kind of taking a holiday from exercise the last 4-5 days.....got a nice running route planned tomorrow a.m. through.....
Ran 6 miles at Barksdale AFB near the airfield.......very hot, humid. I have been at high altitude for the last 2.5 months and thought that I'd kick ass running near sea level. But the humidity, heat caused me to slow down by 1 min/mile and didn't have a lot of energy near the last 1.5 miles like I usually do.
Sea level running in high humidity is much tougher than high altitude, cooler according to my science experiment.....
Yesterday, elliptical and stepmill (which thankfully didn't try to throw me off!)
Working hard on shedding the vacation pounds, so far so good. Have either 2 lbs to go or 6, depending on where I want to be. Decided not to have a "cheat day" this weak to focus on removing any fat that was put on due to the vacation gorging. I Love vacation and " no holds barred" but damn my body rips me a new one these days. too much fat, sugar, and calories.
lifting wise, i'm getting back to my pre-vacation progress. still on 25 lb dumbbells (whereas I had started using 30s before) but doing ok. I've now added walking the dog to my daily routine while still trying to squeeze in gym time. It's getting really hard to work out. I may need to cut the cardio down to 30 mins, I really don't need to do 40 but I do like to burn calories, so....something's gotta give. Just not enough time in my day and I don't want to trim my lifting time.
