The gym is one of the best places to establish new relationships, because of the number of women/men you´ll find there. No matter what day of the week or time, you have in front of you lots of opportunities and occasions to start a conversation.
Using the same weight machine than the person you like, will allow you to talk to her.
Sometimes, when asked, you can even help her adjust the machines and act as an instructor.
So yeah, i think you should definitely talk to her and other people in general, whenever they´re resting between sets.
I wanna hear different things you girls do to get our attention at the gym . And men too, any obvious or not-so obvious flirtatious signs you've noticed.
I go without any make-up on, do some classes that make me sweat like a pig, get all red in the face from exercising at high intensity for an hour, and then bat my eyelashes at them.
i don't like it when people use the gym for purposes other than working out. It's not a place to pick up chicks. It's one thing if you see the same person a lot and exchange hello's and work your way up, but i see that as more of a situation that happens naturally versus someone who goes there with the intention to try to hit on women (or hey women who go there to hit on men, guess it could go both ways). I get tired of people standing around socializing and chatting on the phone too. There's always someone on the machine next to me yapping on the phone. I'm there to do my workout and get out as fast as possible.

you seem like a delight.
anyway, i'm alot like you, OP. i mainly concentrate on my workout. but then again, i've been thinking about this too, and have had that same situation happen to me, but i was too oblivious to do anything. though i am not oblivious enough to not notice women at the gym. after all, i am a guy. i've had a few women on the elliptical machines right next to me take of their sweater and put their hair down and it has been really distracting. perhaps that was a green light. i always go in the morning and i am not much of a talker in the morning. if it is the mid-afternoon or evening when i am more likely to initiate conversations.

LOL I'm the same except for batting my eye lashes at them. I wear cutie clothing but no make up and I sweat my ass off from the hour of cardio I do every morning.

Me too. No makeup or "styling" no eyelash batting....the plan is just to work my butt off. If some compliments or encouragement come my way. Thank you. Either way, I keep it moving. Surprisingly, guys find the sight of a sweaty, breathless smiling woman just finishing a workout to be very alluring. I suppose in an evolutionary sense, all that makes you very desirable males looking for a mate, (and of course, they want the best one they can get).

It definitely can be very alluring, and this is where I don't understand female logic at all: If a guy approaches you and finds you attractive when you're "at your worst" (your words ladies, not ours), then this should be refreshing to you, not thwarted away like he's violating some sacred rule of 'don't talk to me when sweaty'.
I mean, doesn't it feel nice to be considered attractive when:
- You're not wearing makeup
- Your're not wearing your best dress
- You're not wearing heels
- The lights aren't dim
- The guy isn't drunk
