Maybe, but even back home in my own state, Walmart is in the less desirable towns and neighborhoods. They just are a bit seedy. Not that target is much better IMO. Then again, with the exception of Costco, I am not a big box fan at all.

Target is considered more upscale and Walmart is considered the opposite. Customers often seem to shop where they feel most comfortable - among their peers unless they are going for the absolute cheapest price possible and then Walmart is the place.

Really? I often see all types of people shopping at all different stores. I see rich people shopping at Walmart all the time. Take a look at the cars in the parking lot. All different people shop at all different places. Rich people eat at mcdonalds too not just people with little money.

Nope, not the same. The Target clothing is infinitely more attractive. And they have totally different stuff.

I have uncovered Walmart wins on patterned tights. Walmart doesn't have cardigans, and doesn't have the "well-fitting" basics. If you want a "basic" tank, the Target one is nicer. The ribbed tanks keep their shape and the Walmart ones die after 2 washes (I know I tried).

Walmart rarely has cardigans. Target always has them.

Shoppers at Target are more attractive and fashionable and Walmart..... I think this website says it all:

Funny Pictures at WalMart People Of Walmart Funny Pictures of People Shopping at Walmart
Both customer bases are more declasse than carriage trade if you ask me. The last time I went to Target was the one in Hackensack, NJ a couple of years ago to get an Ipad for my wife's birthday present. I never saw a more sorry a$$ ratched clientele in all my life. You kind of expect to see June and Honey Boo-Boo wannabees at Walmart from the gitgo but Target's pandering to the lumpenproletariat really took me by surprise.

It's not where you shop but how you shop.

Not necessarily. I don't mind paying somewhat more at Target to avoid what has consistently been horrendous experiences at Wal-Mart. I know I can personally put a price tag on avoiding having to go to Wal-Mart, and by shopping at Target I still come out ahead even if I do end up paying a bit more for my laundry detergent

Target attracts the people who refuse to set foot in Walmart but still want one stop reasonably priced shopping. Target also carries some better quality merchandise than Walmart...most noticably in the houseware section. Several times I have purchased stuff at a higher end store (The Great Indoors for example) only to find the exact same whatever at Target at a much lower cost.
