Unpopular opinion here, I am a woman who does not wear makeup as a rule. What I notice (it doesn't really bother me though) is beautiful young women in the full bloom of youth, looking as lovely as they ever will in their lives, overdoing it with makeup. Like pink/red/orange eyeshadow. I don't feel it enhances the appearance. Seems like it is just a novelty thing. I guess I am jealous since my blooming rose days are decades behind me!
I agree; when you're young, it seems like you wouldn't need it, because you already look great. (Unless you have acne.) But I see, that people have posted, that when done right, which means--sparingly, it can enhance your features, and help you stand out from a crowd of average faces. So...IDK. My feeling is, that it's not magic; it's not going to transform most women into great beauties.
HOWEVER, I've been surprised to see the websites of makeup artists in Russia, who have before/after pics of the typical middle-aged Slavic mom or young grandma (think: plump, plain/average). AMAZING transformations! (Not overdone.) So, maybe makeup is magic, when in the right hands...
I think right now, the style is for women to wear REALLY heavy make-up. I'm a woman, and I don't understand the painted on eyebrows and faux lashes that everyone knows aren't real. A little make-up is good in my opinion, a full on drag show is not.
But what do you care? Yes, styles come and go - do you remember the "natural look" from the '70's that took an hour to put on but supposedly looked like you had no makeup?! lol
Everyone can do as they please - you won't please everyone and you won't agree with what everyone else does. I shake my head at what some women wear but ultimately it makes no difference to me.
Literally every time I've had a guy point out an example of a woman who supposedly looks so great, because she's "not wearing makeup," Um...yeah... she's wearing makeup. She just doesn't look like a drag queen or a Kardashian.

Seriously, men know so little about makeup but I suppose they "know what they like". Still doesn't mean they get to tell you what to do - if they can't stand it then I guess they'll just have to move on.
