New England specialty. Legal Seafood chain does them very well.

Love these. Place in Punta Gorda Florida (USA) has them. Big pile, light breading, great cocktail and tartar sauces.

Totally agree about Cuban and Eastern European.

I'd add virtually any 'peasant' food.

Take something simple like a pirogi, it's flour, eggs, salt, potatoes, onions. Couldn't be much simpler but when done well, it's pure soul food to me.

Real ethnic foods are underrated. Too many fusion, American-styled ethnic foods that are over-rated and reputation hurt because of the Americanization of the cuisine.

I agree, Koreans definitely make some of the best barbeque, and ramen. About the other two, they must be underrated, because I've heard very little about food from those countries.

For Cuban, a simple to make introduction would be Ropa Vieja, a shredded beef stew. A search will yield many recipes, pick one that sounds good and enjoy.

Probably South Indian vegetarian cuisine. The vast majority of the Western world associates Indian cuisine with dishes like butter chicken, tandoori chicken and naan. That is like associating European cuisine with pizza.
Besides, the typical dishes served in Indian restaurants tend to be very oily and greasy, with unhealthy amounts of butter and cream used in cooking. There is a lot of Indian food that is healthier.
