I'm from the Chicago area and currently in Orange County, NY. I really miss home run inn frozen pizza and lemon rice soup that is served at every diner type place. I have tried to make the soup but it's not even close.
Well, Luckily for u, OP, Orange County NY is close enough to NYC where u can still get NYC-style pizza. Especially in your neighboring county to the south, Rockland.
There were two old Italian brothers that had a ranch outside of town. They sold some of their dairy products to people who knew them. We'd often go out and get freshly churned butter and mason jars of cream. The cream was so thick, you'd turn the jar upside down and it barely pour out. I was pretty disappointed when I found that cream you bought in the stores was nothing like that!
I miss the taste of the beef we used to get directly from the ranchers too.
