Tonight we had Chickpea and Kale Soup with onion, garlic, red pepper flakes and fresh cracked black pepper. Served with toasted red wheat and rye bread, and a glass of merlot.

we are finally having the Chinese food I planned on having a few nights ago: Seems lately no matter what the menu says we end up having something different and I don't have any idea why. Part of it has to do with so many left overs and some night just not in the mood to cook much. It certainly is not a case of no time, but maybe so much time makes us less organized.

Yesterday turned into bacon wrapped grilled chicken breast with very spicy pasta with melted onions and mushrooms and endive.

How does meat loaf and the works sound?

Let's face it weekends and Sundays in particular are shot to bits with this virus.
Ordinarily in the Conkling casa they follow a dreamy routine. A late lie-in with the possibility, no more than that I hasten to add, of a bit of jiggery-pokery.
Then a good breakfast generally involving bacon.
Then a nice Sunday constitutional.Perhaps a bracing walk by the sea with the dog.
Then Mrs C leaves me at a local hostelry to watch sport on TV and sink a few pints while she has a few ladies who drink around for Chardonnay and Shots while ostensibly preparing Sunday dinner.
Some time later I'd wander home and knock-up a few fearsome cocktails for the ladies before they wobble off home and Mrs C and I linger over a long dinner and a nice bottle of red.
Then fall asleep in front of the TV before hitting the sack at a reasonable hour content that a day has been usefully wasted.
There is no way under the normal scheme of things I should be drinking margaritas under lockdown at 2pm.
Anway, dinner-wise, I'm doing roast pork with crackling and apple sauce, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and carrots, broccoli and garden peas.
Hopefully ...

Smoked brisket with choice of vinegar sauce or Caroline BBQ sauce (never had it, got it at TJs), and a side salad with lots of veggies.

Everyone’s dinners sound yummy. We are just having Irish sausage (whatever that is, but I think it involves beer) and mac n cheese...heritage tomatoes and oatmeal cookies.
