I still have a soft spot for Banquet turkey pot pies. Childhood memories include the fried chicken dinners, but I haven't had them in years.
Apparently, lots of people don't find then "nasty and smelly." More banquet meals are sold each year than Stouffers. I suspect the higher number of Banquet sold is due to Stouffers having appreciably higher prices.
As for me, if I'm eating a frozen meal, it's for lunch and it's weight watchers or Michelina's. Cheap and the ones with pasta aren't bad tasting.
When I used to eat carbs and was on a budget I would eat the Michelinas. To me Banquet its like the prison food on Orange/Black and if you don't time it just right it overcooks on the edges.
As for now there is a company that makes a cauliflower lasagna that is amazing. About $5 and only about 10 net carbs. Otherwise I cook for myself.

Do you recall the brand? I'm going to have to look for this.
I generally stay away from frozen meals, but there is a Lean Cuisine in their new "Life Cuisine" line that is ameat lovers cauliflower pizza bowl that's 13 net carbs. It's basically cauliflower florets topped with pizza sauce, sausage, pepperoni, and cheese. It's nice to have when I need a quick lunch.
I like the Banquet pot pies, too, but could probably do without the rubbery chicken pieces in it. I give them to my dog, but love the veggies, gravy, and crust. Wish I knew how they made their crust. I don't buy the pot pies often, but once in a while they are an easy, cheap meal.
For anyone liking chicken pot pies, I have an easy recipe where you can use left over chicken. I use mixed veggies instead of peas and carrots. You can also use potatoes. I like the Pillsbury rolled crust in the refrigerated section or use the shells with tins in the freezer section. Very easy to make. Tastes way better then any of the frozen pot pies.
I will never...ever...EVER buy that brand as not only inedible, but nasty and unpleasant smelling so called Food". When I shop for frozen meals, 90% of the time its Stouffers..they are so tasty!
You need to decide your the meal is for before buying.
I remember getting these frozen shrimp cocktails. They came in a small glass with a bunch of tiny shrimp buried in cocktail sauce. Mom saved them for breakfast glasses.

Everyone has different tastes. When we were kids - my brother practically lived on Banquet frozen pot pies. I didn't care for them but I didn't think they were "nasty" OR "unpleasant smelling". They would not sell like hotcakes if many did not love them. They are certainly NOT inedible.

I make my own as well - it is not quick, but it is outrageously good.

But that's making a full sized pot pie, right? It's not really the type of thing that would work for one serving, and pot pies don't really reheat very well IMO.
