For me, the best i've enjoyed are
whaling Station on Cannery Row.Monterey Ca.
Sardine Factory same area.
Club 19-Pebble Beach.Ca.
Vista Grill -Puerto Vallarta and La Palalpa in Puerto Vallarta
So dish the dirt, where is the best place you've ever chowed down at? I have a new favorite resturant, the French Room at the Adolphus in Dallas, TX. It was as much of a feast for the mouth as it was for the eyes- absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Here's my review of it in the Dallas Texas forum:
Oddly enough, coming from NYC, the supposed restaurant capital of the world....
The best steak I ever had was at a place in Williamsburg, VA (or near there) called "The Peddlar". I met the owner and told him personally.
If you're ever heading down that way, check it out.
Jean-Georges Vonrichten restaurants. His signature Jean-Georges in the Trump International Hotel and Tower in NYC is amazing. Voted #2 restaurant in the city (behind his French rival Daniel Boulad). Ruby Foo's in NYC and Vegas has great Pan Asian dishes.
My favorite is RuthChris in Destin, Love Carrabas in Pcola and Bonefish (Pcola & Destin and for a slice of NYC pizza Sal's Pizerria is the BOM.... .....
I am very farmilar with the dreadful Pensacola area and must say there dining is laughable. Carrabas, Landrys, MacGuires, Shrimp Basket...ugh.

That "dreadful Pensacola area" has some mighty good seafood; "there" dining can be quite good if you are into fresh shrimp and want to take a break from snooty-foodie oneupsmanship.
I really liked McGuire's. Maybe it's not fine dining but we are talking about best restaurants, not necessarily fancypants ones.

No need to get so defensive. My opinion is not based on "fancypants" restaurants. I have never seen so much fried food, including seafood in my life.

Fried is not my favorite either, but it's simply not *all* that way.
The fresh oysters are to die for.
And McGuire's really does have some creative choices, it's not all pub grub.
