Tonight, it was dinner at Mac's Grill in Colleyville, TX. I had me some chicken-fried steak and some fries. Their cream gravy is the best I've ever tasted. For my appetizer, I had a nice order of crispy fried crawfish tails with a special mustard-based dipping sauce.

Howdy foodies just a quick pop in as another t-storm is fast approaching. Your suppers sounded great with a strong showing on the mac/pasta salad tonight.

I got out voted made breakfast pizza instead of Italian sausages. Hope to get the sausages in the next night or two.

Skbs, I join the chorus of your relieved friends that the x-rays revealed no complications with the Chatterbox's tummy, and that your back is starting to feel better. Hope you are all set for a spell of good health and no drama for a while - you deserve a rest!

Pot roast with roasted root vegetables was scrumptious, done to perfection, and there were enough pan drippings to make up a bit of gravy to drizzle over the meat.... We and our weekly dinner guests were very, very happy. And there's a bit of beef & gravy in a zip-lock in the freezer now, waiting for the next pot of beef-barley stewp when the weather turns cooler again.

I saw a couple of people commenting on German potato salad, and got out my late mother-in-law's recipe to pass along. It's a bit more time-consuming, but oh, so good, and very much worth the time.

Grandma's German Potato Salad

5 slices bacon, cut in 1/2" pieces
1 onion, chopped
2 Tbsp. flour
2/3 c. vinegar
1 1/3 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
dash of pepper
6 c. cooked sliced potatoes

Fry bacon pieces until crisp, drain well and set aside. Saute onion in 2-3 Tbsp of the bacon fat. Add flour and stir to make a light roux, then slowly add the vinegar and water, stirring constantly until thick. Add the sugar, salt and pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes.

Grease a casserole dish well and put down a layer of potato slices, sprinkle some bacon bits and then spoon sauce over all. Repeat until all potatoes, bacon and sauce is used up.

Bake at 350 degrees until hit and bubbly around the edges; this will be 15-20 minutes if the potatoes were hot when you assembled the casserole, or about half an hour if they were cold.

Pork cutlets were melt in mouth good, mashed potatoes (who doesn't like mash) and decided on creamed spinach. Just took a blueberry coffee cake out of the oven. Had so many fresh blueberries I had to use them.

Not sure what got into me today with all this cooking Have a great evening everyone
