Cat, so you're out before you put it on the market? There's a slight chance our negotiations on the home inspection report will fall through and ours will be back up if the buyers walk, but I doubt that happening. They are already marking the place and walking the boundaries to put up a fence.
Got another SUV load to the lake house today and moved some stuff into the storage unit. When we opened the storage unit I was surprised to see a box tipped over and stuff out but it turned out to be a good thing. It was part of Christmas decorations, the box with my German windmill. The top was loose so gravity did its thing and a few items fell out, which uncovered the forgotten box of candles that was in there. So much for those thanks to the heat. At least I had pulled all my vintage novelty candles out and left them in the house because I knew they wouldn't survive in storage. Now I'm putting a couple of wooden antique pieces in there and just hope the heat isn't too bad for them.
We were in a lucky situation when we found this house that we were able to afford without having to sell our other house first. The old house was pretty much paid off and this house was a Fanny Mae foreclosure and we got it for a STEAL! (But, the amount we had to put into it... ) We took out a home improvement loan against the old house. Once that house sells, we will pay off the loan and this house is all ours-not the banks.
We weren't in the market for a house but when we saw this one, we fell in love with it.

Good for you! I was hoping the equity in this house would have covered the remaining mortgage on our lake house but doesn't. Still it's getting it down so it is reasonable as retirees.
Got home yesterday to find the buyers walking our property line, looking at the markings they had Miss Utiilty put down, trying to figure out the fence they are determined to put up. Today we are getting our estimate on remediating the drainage problems from the company we have used. I'm hoping/assuming it'll be a lot less than their drainage estimate which is overkill for what needs to be done. Even the home inspector didn't note all they want to do. Will be so glad once we are through with these negotiations. Now, back to more packing today and hopefully getting stuff to the thrift store.
Did a little bit more packing/cleaning of old house today. 3 rooms are TOTALLY cleaned out. Only needs vacuuming now. We still have many more rooms to go.
CatwomanofV, yes, I like ambiance, but with five cats in the house it's a hazard so they got donated. I have flashlights that double as night lights that come on when the power is out and they are removeable to use as flashlights.
