The toughest one to choose was Louisiana. On some of the states where an obvious choice didn't jump off, I chose the location of the Flagship State University.

AL: Huntsville - up and coming city, and I like its overall location
AK: Anchorage - plenty to do, but still in AK
AZ: Flagstaff - further north the better
AR: Little Rock - seems well balanced
CA: San Diego - If I have to live in CA, I might as well pick the best city there
CO: Lakewood - between Denver and the mountains
CT: Danbury - hilly part of CT, close to NYC but still fairly rural
DE: Lewes - nice beach town
FL: Wesley Chapel - I like the Tampa area
GA: Savannah - love Savannah!
HI: Maui - developed, but not over developed
ID: Boise - offers a lot
IL: Champaign - just spit-balling here
IN: Carmel - nice suburb
IA: Des Moines - amenities and proximity to Ames
KS: Overland Park - nice suburb of KC
KY: Lexington - very nice small city
LA: Shreveport - not as swampy
MA: Lowell - nice edge city for Boston, still close to ocean and mountains
MD: Fredrick - close to DC, but still removed and close to WV
ME: Portland - charming city
MI: Grand Rapids - only city that I have spent time in
MN: Maple Grove - nice suburb
MO: Kansas City - I really like KC!
MS: Ridgeland - probably the best area in MS
MT: Bozeman - if money weren't a factor

NV: Carson City - feels less dessert
