Regarding Long Island, I would say Long Island is pretty famous (the island was even mentioned in the OP!) but I am not sure if many Americans know what Long Island actually is. This is particularly true of Suffolk County, which is more than just suburbs.

Regarding Lexington (and Concord), a couple of people mentioned they think of Lexington, Kentucky first. I am the exact opposite. I think of Lexington, Massachusetts first, but maybe because I like history so much. I do concede that not everyone will know they are suburbs of Boston though.

How are many of these suburbs? A case could be made for some but Aspen and Jackson Hole are very isolated from any city of size.

I would also not consider Palm Springs a suburb. A suburb of what? Not Los Angeles.

Certainly helps when nearby Hollywood produces and promotes movies and TV shows with its name in the title.

Definitely think Long Island is famous. BTW, this is a contest that one should not be proud of winning. We're talking about suburbs here.

Isnt LL Cool J from Hollis, Queens?
