I have to admit that I sort of don't like the sound of Houston being called cheap, lol. Makes me feel useless and unworthy. To be honest, it really is not that cheap.
Based on what I'm looking for out of life:
Houston, A- heat in the summer is fine, not cold enough in winter, sorry public transportation, stinky in some areas, underdog, shameful downtown, talentless developers, less than impressive infrastructure in some parts; pros, liberal, more diverse than most cities, coastal, full of life, the perfect mix of bustling metropolis and laidback atmosphere, great nightlife (though sometimes a bit more sex and rock'n'roll than I'm built for) gorgeous men, awesome people.
New York, A- Manhattan can be pretty corny, but Brooklyn gets more than an A+ in my book. With the exception of a few things, it would probably be the ideal place for me to live. Flawless infrastructure.)
Atlanta, B Love the hilly landscape, also a city of beautiful guys, cool downtown skyline, very sleek, but not enough culture as I would like.
Los Angeles, B- Everything would be cool if it wasn't too far out west.
San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, and the others get C's...not flavorful enough for my tastes.
Dallas, no grade because I'm confused. Am I ranking the city or the area?? Dallas spreads itself too thin.
Miami, B A city that I learned to love. Just very cool. A worthy opponent of Houston.
Chicago, ehhhh. It's a very great city, but the cockiness of some of its residents are somewhat of a turn off.

How can Houston be cocky when it's never given any credit? Plus, certain people (not you) try to make Chicago into something it isn't. If anything, Houstonians are trying to expose the city for what it really is, so we can do away with all the stereotypes, once and for all. Chicago doesn't have that problem.

Cool, I thought that was aimed directly at me. You know, cuz Im a massive homer and all. And dont feel bad, Chicago probably has alot more stereotypes than Houston.
