I believe Texas has statewide open carry for long guns, so long as the bolt is open. When you get into counties with major cities it gets fuzzy, though.

I am surprised Texas sounds like it has a lot more gun laws in place than an outsider would think.

Really? Point me to that law.

The word is "brandish" or "brandishing." There is no such word "brandishment." THAT's why I was laughing at you (this time).

How can I point you to the law, when it's not online?

However, I did find a few examples for your perusal, that specifically mention "brandishment"--as I stated. YES, it IS a word.

The purpose of handguns. Is that the REAL subject here then? OK, the purpose of handguns is to launch a projectile, who's purpose is to hit a target, at close to medium range. Preferably in an accurate manner. As Thompson Wheland said about rifles I would say about handguns. Only accurate ones are interesting. Whether your use, for the purpose, is self defense, hunting, target shooting, competition etc, hitting the target is the end desire. The firearm is merely the tool by which this is accomplished. The person behind the gun determines it's worth. So bad people do bad things with firearms, and taking the ability of good people to do good things with the same is the answer? Seems illogical and counterproductive to me. The old cutting off your nose to spite your face thing aye? Silly me, I guess I just don't 'get it'.

Doesn't seem there's anything good accomplished.

Indeed? If a good guy shoots a bad guy that is comitting a violent crime, thats a bad thing? Handgun competition has helped me teach my son respect, self control, and keeps him out working on his skills instead of in front of video games. Thats a bad thing? Should I go on? It gets to be a pretty long list of positives.

relying on a crutch? that's a bad thing. Why shoot when you have two hands, two feet, and a brain in your head? (not to mention the knees, elbows, and head).

I can't help it if there are people in positions of authority who are just as ignorant as you. The fact that you found it online doesn't mean it's a word...

Anyway... Thanks for continuing the hilarity!
