Here's a fun fact for you. Smokers on an average die younger than non-smokers. This is a critical thing, especially in the ages of 60-90, when people generally use alot more medical services and they are retired. Our government (we have a almost 100% government-run healthcare system, here EVERYONE really pays for EVERYONES healthcare) actually just recently made a study about this, and the result was crystal clear. Non-smokers generally live much longer, and therefore, they use much more healthcare resources and retirement benefits than smokers. The lenght of the working (=tax-paying) careers for both groups didn't differ all that much.

You know what, you are right. I do give you props on this post. But, is it good that smokers die younger? You do have a point, but the overall reality is negative either way, unless I am mistaken.

beleave me i don't like cigs it's a bad habit and i smoke.. but to out right ban cigarettes is a foolish thing to do!!! you would be giving the drug cartells another product to make money with!! and it would create more adverse affects than it would solve..

this is the way i see it if you want to ban cigs, i say ban casinos.. i say ban casinos someone els says ban fire arms where does it end.

Can't you please just read the last two pages of this thread? I do not want cigarettes banned for sale. I feel private use is fine, i.e. smoking in your house, backyard, or car, or even on public streets. I only want them banned in public places that are confined. That is all.

thats not what you said in the first post.. the only reason i replied to this thread was you said that cigarettes should be banned out right..

so next time you do a thread about some topic maybe you should give some serious thought before you post a touchy subject like banning smoking out right..and then change your mind 50 post into the subject!!

i'm done!! this thread will not accomplish anything

Yes, I can admit when I am wrong. I was wrong at the beginning, and have since apologized for it. What more can I do? I still am glad I started this thread. I have actually learned quite a bit. I wish it could have been more civil, but that is how life goes sometimes.

Well.. don't know. I think it's a matter of choice. You don't have to smoke.. or drink, drive fast, or do anything else for that matter if you believe that it will help you live a better life.

I'm still amazed at how many people don't understand the simple concept of voting with their feet. If you don't like the fact that Casino X permits their patrons to smoke, then patronize a casino that doesn't permit it on their gambling floor. A casino is an adult oasis, open to mature adults 21 and older who are admitted on to the property with the premise that they're capable of making their own decisions.

Ok, then tell me where casino B is then. There is not even one here in Vegas. There are some tables here and there that do not allow it, but that the extent of it.

You're a non-smoker. You and 80% of the rest of the adult population are non-smokers. Do you folks not understand that you outnumber smokers by a 4:1 margin?

So tell me, how is this 20% minority able to hold all of these casinos hostage to allowing smoking on their floor?????? It's so simple a child can figure it out. If you don't like the practices/policies of a business, you don't patronize them. When their profits decline because of it, then they'll make modifications to their business model.
