To Bikegal: Are you even aware that you are helping Volvo Driver make his point? Are you even aware that you are totally missing the point about the OP's wife's mode of getting to work? The point is that his wife is doing a hugely good thing environmentally by living so close to work. She lives so close to work that is it inane quibbling to talk about how she gets there. She doesn't need to "justify" how she travels to work. Your holier-than-thou attitude is precisely what this thread is about.
I have family members who drive a Prius, and would drive one myself if it made any sense. But considering that my wife drives almost no miles, there's no reason for me to pay a premium for a hybrid car.
By the way, did I mention that I drive a truck? A big scary truck!!!
Checkmate.
your whole argument, is "we don't drive much", and "live close to work." and yet, it doesn't make sense to walk or bike the half mile to work? ok. oh, but you're not a hypocrite, because you're not claiming to be an environmentalist, so it's ok. again, I'm not sure what the point of your post is.
I guess that must be another assumption. did I mention anything about trucks?

If they don't need to 'justify' anything, why did they start a thread about it to criticize other people. Most people tend to mind their own business, unless they come across a thread of someone calling people names.

Actually, that's not my point at all. Hasn't been since the beginning.
mmk. basically all it is is listing how "green" you are, and how other people that claim to, whatever (still not sure what your argument is there) are hypocrits. ok. again, not sure what the point is. you haven't said what the people you call hypocrits, do or say to apparently be hypocrits. yet you say, I do this and this, and I don't drive much, we even live close to work...yet, there are plenty of excuses not to walk or bike the half mile, but it's ok since I'm not claiming to be an environmentalist, so I'm not a hypocrite. yet, that seems to be the basis of your "I'm greener than them" arugment.

again, I don't get it.
Obviously. And maybe that should tell you something.
