downtown Greensboro construction photo update.

The Greenway at Stadium Park next to NewBridge Bank Park is almost complete.

Bellemeade Village across the street from the ballpark is officially under construction. Looks like the design for the Hyatt hotel has slightly been updated and has more glass on the entry area. Pretty massive development.

construction on the Charles Aris corporate headquarters next to the Bellemeade Village site is well under way.

LeBauer City Park near the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts site is under construction

Crafted's second downtown restaurant location is open. Its located in the Preying Brewing buildings across the street from the Greenway at Fisher Park and is close to the ballpark, Bellemeade Village and Deep Roots grocery store.

Its called Crafted Street Food

The window at the table and bar stools pulls up creating in indoor/outdoor space.

My wish list for downtown.............an entertainment complex on the News & Record lot bound by Davie St, Washington St and Church St. The lot is strategically located across from the depot and would create some activity on Davie Street, especially with the Wyndham Hotel going up nearby across the street. The entertainment complex could include a large distillery restaurant, a cosmic bowling alley, a small concert venue and maybe even some upscale apartments. Its a block east of the heart of Elm Street's restaurant and entertainment scene.

I would love to see something like this come to downtown Greensboro. I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened yet. Downtown Greensboro could certainly support a bowling alley.

It could be the anchor for and entertainment complex

Hopefully Bellemeade Village will have some ground floor retail. If so, I think an upscale bowling alley concept with a couple of restaurants and/or brewery would fit nicely on the ground floor level. It would give people a reason to show up before and after ballgames or if attending at show at the future performing arts center.

who knows yinzer, Maybe Roy Carroll will throw in a few surprises.

Here are some more photos showing the overall Bellemeade Village site from above

A block and a half east of Bellemeade Village is the site for the 3,000 seat Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. They have one more building to tear down.

The site for Union Square university campus

The Southeastern Building was Greensboro's first skyscraper and the renovation a moving along nicely with a restaurant on the ground level and a mix of office and luxury apartments on the upper levels

Construction on Bellemeade Village is definitely underway. I walked past the site this evening and the section of Lindsay Street that runs through the site has been closed and fenced off.

Alot of people seem to be upset about that closure, but personally i think it's for the better, as this is a huge development, it needs alot of space.
