It was open for me as well about that time, but a colleague just came in and said exit 36A was closed around 6:45, NB. He had to go up to Roper Mtn Road to do a U-turn of sorts to get on 85 NB.

The 6am hour is still early. How was it at 7 and 8? Anyone?

It slowed to a crawl around 7:15, but not a bottleneck. I don't think we ever totally stopped. Lots of lane switching by people though.

what happend to the "Signature Bridge" going over I-85 near the TD Buildings?
The new Bridge is definitely NICER than most of the bridges on I-85 but in NO WAY is it a "Signature Bridge welcoming people to Greenville as stated by the SCDOT.

True. Also, they still haven’t installed the lights on the bridge which is weird.

Big Detour this weekend. Exit 51 A-C on 85NB will be closed from 10PM Friday - 5AM Monday.

From Facebook:
Quote:
*** Weekend-long Detour on 85 Northbound ***
+ A detour will be in place this weekend due to ramp closings at the intersection of I-85 and I-385 as part of the Gateway Project.
+ 85 NB, Exit 51 A-C, which includes access to Woodruff Rd, 385 northbound and 385 southbound, will be closed from Friday at 10 p.m. through Monday at 5 a.m.
+ Both of the on-ramps to 85 NB from Woodruff Road will be closed during the same time frame.
+ For the detour, drivers on 85 NB will be directed to continue Exit 56, where they will turn back onto 85 SB. From there, drivers will be able to access I-385 in either direction.
+ Motorists on Woodruff Road travelling west will be directed to continue on Woodruff Road to Roper Mountain Road, where they will get on 385 SB to get to their destination.
+ Drivers on Woodruff Road heading east will continue to 385. From there, motorists will get on I-385 North to access I-85 North towards Charlotte.
+ This detour is needed to perform paving operations along the existing exit and collector/distributor lanes on the Gateway Project. Motorists are asked to observe all signage and travel with caution.

That seems like an odd detour. I would think most of that traffic would be better off exiting at the US276 exit and then using Verdae to connect back with Woodruff and/or I-385.

I'm guessing they want to try to keep the surface streets from getting clogged up, especially with truck traffic. But yeah there are definitely betters ways around it if you know where you are going. Generally these closures show up on google maps as well, so it should probably route around it better too.
