We are thinking about relocating to the Greenville area. We are in our 50's, last kid will finish college in a year!
Would this be a good area to look at? We were looking at downtown but the prices close in are soooo high.
Any other suggestions?
I live in "Greater Five Forks" and love it, but it isn't for everyone. When I moved here almost twenty years ago, downtown Greenville seemed just a hop, a skip and a jump away. Now traffic is a real issue. However, we have almost everything we need over here on the east side...

I coud give you some suggestions but as another poster said would need to know what you are looking for. If you want to be downtown a lot, I would probably not recommend Simpsonville. Greenville, parts of Greer, Mauldin, and perhaps Easley would get you closer. Travelers Rest is also becoming popular but would get you a bit further from downtown. However it has its own fun vibe, again depending on what you are looking for.
Thanks to all who posted. We would like to be closer to DT. As for size of house, ideally we'd like to find a nice condo / townhouse or small home. Would be nice if the community had a pool / gym. Close to swamp rabbit would be a benefit as well - we are very active.
One of our children went to Furman so we are somewhat familiar with how TR is developing, so that might work.

Thanks for the response; of course a price range would be helpful as well.
The Verdae area, in Greenville, is exploding, and there have been some resale townhomes in Ruskin Square. Ryan homes is also building new single-family homes and has townhomes planned. They will sell quickly because the location is fantastic. 12 minutes to downtown, close to Woodruff shopping and the planned extension of the SWT. Right now there is a small Y but there will be a larger club, with a pool, within the next couple of years.

There appears to be a lot of new activity on Scuffletown Road, across the street from Sportsclub, next to MD360. Today there more 7 or 8 trucks and a variety of crews. Are they prepping the land for development?
