Two different rumors I'm curious if anyone knows more about:

1. Publix has scrapped their plans to take the left retail spaces over, and all have already been leased again.

2. A Target is coming to Five Forks at the intersection of Adams Mill/Five Forks Rd/Scuffletown Rd. This seems absolutely ridiculous to me, but I keep hearing it from different people and the land where Swedish Automotive is could definitely fit one. Between all the adjoining land that the Thackston's own, it's nearly 37 acres right there.

That would be a dumb location for a Target with 3 stores already on the east side of Greenville (Woodruff Rd, Simpsonville, and Greer). The part of the market that they are missing entirely is the Easley / Powdersville area. Our closest Target is over on Woodruff road and I pretty much never go over there.

I see future stores in all different sizes here (12,000-125,000) but nothing for SC yet. Could be a smaller format store in the planning.

Totally agree, which is why I thought it would be strange. I had also heard rumors of a Wal-mart Neighborhood Market for that location at some point.

Publix #35's expansion is still on. Construction may be delayed.

Target stagnated in opening additional stores in Greenville County. If it is serious in additional store locations, it could try again.

Another rumor is supermarket Ingle's is seeking a location on Woodruff Road for an additional store.

The Five Forks area is one of the fastest growing areas in Greenville county. It would only make sense to put a store in the middle of that.

The BI-LO in Five Forks has been floundering around for years now. It would not surprise me if it closes and something new takes that prime location.

How about a quantity of BI-LO stores being acquired by Harris Teeter?

Is it just me or are the neighborhood markets stocked much better? I go to the Wally world in TR and the shelves are empty. Go to the market on old Buncombe and they are fully stocked.

That has not always been the case at that Neighborhood Market. It was terrible up until recently. It seems to have improved. I think they must have switched to daytime stocking more frequently. I noticed more personnel stocking on the floor now during daylight hours.

I wonder if the TR problem is the remodel that has been going on and using manpower for that.
