Maybe they're going to renovate the space for the grocery store and build the apartments on top of it. That could be what the demo work is being referred to as.

If a complete demolition of the property is proceed, you should see remaining tenants like North Hills Medical Center moving out.

There was activity at the old Ichiban Chinese place.. Behind Kanpai on Haywood.. Noticed that when I was out for lunch today.

Don't know if the building owner is just touching the place up, or if something is getting ready to go in there. Looked like replacing the windows on the front and painting to remove the label scar on the facade.. Which seemed very odd considering that the sign for Ichiban is still up.

I did not notice Ichiban was closed when I stopped by The Gallery last week. This is one retail center on Haywood Road that needs a complete overhaul.

It was hardly open. I never actually saw it when it was open.. But see the first few posts in this thread.. https://www.city-data.com/forum/green...se-buffet.html

It's been closed since at least early 2012.

Oh. And one other thing.. Did anyone else see the Chik-Fil-A on Laurens Rd (McAlister Sq) closed for about a week? Any idea what was up with that?

Chick-fil-a was open last week. I assume they may have done some maintenance.

Renovations to the building. We will reopen soon!
Everything must've gone according to schedule because that location was open when I drove by earlier today.

That is one of the first double-drive-thru locations of Chik-Fil-A, isn't it?

Doesn't seem all that surprising that they'd need to do some maintenance on it.

I was surprised at what Cookout did to the old checkers location.. They tore that thing down to the frame and rebuilt it.

Ichiban?? Did they rearrange the letters from Hibachi? I thought it was Hibachi Grill before it changed to Ichiban briefly and then closed.
They had done a nice job remodeling that place on the inside before and the food was good. Haywood Rd needs a Chinese place other than the food court.
